WHYY Presents: Dying on the Inside — Podcast Launch & Panel Discussion
What happens when people grow old in a system that was never built to care for them? Join WHYY for the launch of Dying on the Inside: Women Lifers at Muncy Prison— a new investigative podcast examining the national crisis of aging and dying behind bars through the eyes of women serving life sentences in Pennsylvania. Hosted by Cherri Gregg, co-host of Studio 2, and produced in partnership with Temple University’s Logan Center for Urban Investigative Reporting, the series brings listeners inside one of the most urgent—and often overlooked—issues in the criminal justice system.
The evening will begin with a reception and listening experience featuring voices from the podcast, followed by a panel discussion with justice-impacted leaders and policy experts examining aging, healthcare, sentencing, and the realities of release.
This conversation comes at a pivotal moment. A recent Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling striking down mandatory life without parole sentences for second-degree murder is expected to impact hundreds of people and raises urgent questions about resentencing, second chances, and what justice looks like now.
