Tavern Revolution 250: The French Influence on America's Founding

As part of Studio 2’s ongoing events related to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, join us in Lafayette Hill for a discussion of how France’s support for the colonists proved vital to the American fight for freedom from British imperialism.

The town of Lafayette Hill is named for Marquis de Lafayette, a French aristocrat who volunteered to support George Washington and continental army, which included him leading the decisive battle of Yorktown in 1781.

Join Studio 2’s hosts Avi Wolfman-Arent and Cherri Gregg will be joined by a historian who specializes in the Franco-American relationship during the revolution, and the event will also include a round of revolutionary trivia and as well as live comedic improv.

The event will take place at Brittingham’s Restaurant, a facility that was established in 1743, and has been in continuous use as a tavern, inn, dance hall, pub and restaurant for more than 272 years. Then known as “The Trooper,” the tavern is rumored to have hosted Washington and Lafayette, with the latter lodging troops nearby after the 1777 battle of Barren Hill.

Dinner reservations before and after the event are available and encouraged.
