WHYY is delighted to announce that Malala Yousafzai will be honored with WHYY's Lifelong Learning Award on April 14, 2026 during an in-person award presentation with a virtual option to view the interview.
Started in 2002, the WHYY Lifelong Learning Award recognizes an honoree who has demonstrated a passion for lifelong learning for themselves and for all those they inspire. Previous recipients include President Joseph R. Biden (while not in-office), Dr. Anthony Fauci, Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr., Gwen Ifill, Judy Woodruff, Yo-Yo Ma, and more.
The highlight of this event will be a live interview of Malala Yousafzai by Terry Gross, host and co-executive producer of Fresh Air with Terry Gross and Tonya Mosley. The interview will be broadcast at a later date as an episode of Fresh Air and broadcast on WHYY TV channel 12. In-person guests are invited to attend a VIP reception, a behind-the-scenes tour of WHYY, and enjoy the live interview.
