WHYY's Studio 2 presents: The Food and Drink of the Revolution
An evening of food, drink and interviews about the cuisine in the time of the American Revolution with WHYY’s Cherri Gregg and Avi Wolfman-Arent.
Join WHYY’s Studio 2 for a fun event all about the food and drink during the American Revolution. Cherri Gregg and Avi Wolfman-Arent will lead a conversation about the cuisine in the Philadelphia area in the 1770s. What did the colonialists eat and drink? How did that differ by class and background?
We’ll be joined by Yards Brewery founder Tom Kehoe, who spearheaded the creation of the “Ales of the Revolution” line of beers in recent years, pulling from recipes favored by the likes of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. We’ll also talk to a food historian who will break down what it took to feed the revolutionaries.
This event is the latest in WHYY’s Tavern Tour series as we gear up to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.
All guests can enjoy a beer or wine + a colonial buffet including crab cake, pasta, sausage, salad and roasted potatoes as curated by Yards’ chef.
Your $120 donation to WHYY gets you a pair of tickets to this event!
