Bridging Blocks | Invisible Barriers: How Ableism Affects Accessibility

More than 70 million adults in the U.S. reported having a disability in 2022, according to the latest CDC data. Accessibility, or the lack thereof, is a vital concern in the country and in our city. Navigating ableism, which can manifest as a microaggression or overt discrimination, can be challenging for people living with a disability.

How does Philadelphia show up for its residents living with a disability? What services are currently available and what can be improved? How did we get here and how do we move forward?
