Immigrants play a big role in the local economy - as workers, business owners, taxpayers and homeowners.

Join WHYY and the Welcoming Center for a presentation of the latest finds of research from The Pew Charitable Trusts focusing on Philadelphia's foreign-born workers and business owners. This new series of reports present data-driven profiles of foreign-born entrepreneurs and workers, including the kinds of businesses they run, what sectors employ them, the wages they earn and more.

The event will also feature:

  • A conversation with Zeke Hernandez, author of "The Truth about Immigration"
  • A panel discussion featuring three immigrant business owners sharing their experiences launching and maintaining businesses in Philadelphia

The event is produced by WHYY, Welcoming Center, HIAS Pennsylvania and Nationalities Service Center.

Food will be served. The program is free and open to the public but RSVP is required
