WHYY News’ Black Men in Media Summit

WHYY News hosts the 1st annual “Black Men in Media” conference spotlighting talented Black men working in media and featuring discussions on changing narratives.

On behalf of WHYY News, Bridging Blocks and the News & Information Community Exchange (N.I.C.E.) Program, you are invited to participate in a special event which discusses the impact of Black men in media on June 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at WHYY Studios, 150 North 6th Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19106.
The program highlights Black men working at WHYY and across our region to show how media can be used to dismantle racial stereotypes and encourage meaningful and healthy expression, as well as how to build a career in media and journalism. The convening seeks to tear down outdated and restrictive ideas of who and what a “Black man” is.
Attendees will hear from experts in fields such as music, art, photography/videography, journalism, television, radio, and print media. They will leave with practical tips on developing their own voice and image, building their careers and sharing their own unique stories with the world.
The registration begins at 9:00 a.m. with light breakfast. A lunch is included. Networking is encouraged. This event has limited capacity. Registration is required.
