Latino people are the largest racial or ethnic group in the United States, making up nearly 20 percent of the country’s population. Despite that, Latinos may feel alienated by our medical system due to cultural and language barriers, and a lack of Latino physicians. Those barriers can have a real impact on their overall health.
In Philadelphia, many Latino residents are underinsured or uninsured according to data from the city’s Department of Public Health, and have trouble accessing regular and preventative health care.
