Details
WHYY is delighted to announce that Yo-Yo Ma will be honored with WHYY's 2024 Annual Lifelong Learning Award on May 1st at a hybrid award presentation.

The highlight of this virtual event will be the opportunity to experience a live interview of Yo-Yo by Terry Gross, host and co-executive producer of Fresh Air, before the interview is broadcast on Fresh Air with Terry Gross and Tonya Mosley. If you are interested in attending the in-person event, you may purchase your tickets here.

Yo-Yo Ma's career is testament to his faith in culture's ability to generate trust and understanding - from his iconic performances and recording to original undertakings such as the Bach Project and Our Common Nature, a cultural journey to celebrate the ways that nature can reunite us in pursuit of a shared future. Yo-Yo was born to Chinese parents in Paris, when he began to study the cello with his father when he was four. Three years later, he moved with his family to the United States, where he continued his cello studies before pursuing a liberal arts education.

Proceeds from this event will support WHYY’s commitment to encouraging lifelong learning and advancing civic engagement through storytelling, education and community dialogue.
