WHYY is delighted to announce that Lidia Bastianich will be honored with WHYY's 21st Annual Lifelong Learning Award on May 18th at a hybrid award presentation and reception.
The highlight of this event will be the opportunity to experience a live interview of Lidia by Terry Gross, host and co-executive producer of Fresh Air, before the interview is broadcast on Fresh Air. In-person guests are also invited to attend a VIP reception at WHYY with heavy hors d'oeuvres, a behind-the-scenes tour of WHYY and a photo opportunity with Lidia.
Lidia Matticchio Bastianich is an Emmy award-winning public television host, best‐selling cookbook author, successful restaurateur, and owner of a flourishing food and entertainment business. In addition to hosting her PBS show Lidia’s Kitchen, she published numerous cookbooks as well as her memoir: My American Dream: A Life of Love, Family, and Food. Lidia has earned seven James Beard Awards and two Emmy Awards. She is a member of Les Dames D’Escoffier and founding member of Women Chefs and Restaurateurs, two non-profit organizations of women leaders in the food and hospitality industries.
Proceeds from this event will support WHYY’s commitment to encouraging lifelong learning and advancing civic engagement through storytelling, education and community dialogue.
